CoAP Broker
Overview
The CoAP Broker is a stateless broker designed to connect a PostgreSQL database to a CoAP (Constrained Application Protocol) interface. It facilitates seamless communication between IoT devices and backend systems, leveraging the lightweight and efficient CoAP protocol.
Key Features
- Stateless Architecture: The broker operates without maintaining session state, ensuring scalability and simplicity in deployment.
- PostgreSQL Integration: Direct libpq connection or PostgREST. Real-time settings push via LISTEN/NOTIFY (pg_eventsrv).
- DTLS Support: Implements Datagram Transport Layer Security (DTLS) to secure communications, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Matter Compliance: Utilizes Device Attestation Certificates (DACs) that are compliant with the Matter protocol, enhancing security and interoperability in smart home and IoT environments.
- IPv6 Compatible: Large CoAP broker providers (EMQX primarily) does not support IPv6 and not in near term road-map according to their docs. This is support by our infrastructure that uses k3s on a custom lightweight linode cluster.
